The door at the top of the lion-guarded stairway opens to a landing (left photo) that leads to Montoya's office on the left and a secretary's office on the right. Just inside it is an ornate antique clock. To view the larger image (60K), Click here.
This view towards the door shows the landing. The railing at the far left overlooks the lower floor. The door at the far right opens to Montoya's office, and the settee at the right of the photo is an antique (not a reproduction), as are most of the set furnishings. The wall across from the doorway to Montoya's office is dominated by the bookcase (left photo). The second case to the right swings open to reveal his secret vault. To view the larger image (60K), Click here.

From Montoya's desk, both doors that enter into the room are easily visible (wouldn't want anyone sneaking up on him). The silver lantern and desk set give evidence to his appreciation of the finer things in life. The bust against the wall is Napolean. To view the larger image (64K), Click here.
The windows behind this settee look out onto the front balcony of the building. all the drapery and upholstery in this room is very lush and rich-looking. To view the larger image (68K), Click here.
On the right of the landing is the secretary's office space. In this photo, the set had not been dressed, yet. In "Honor Thy Father," a soldier was thrown over the railing in the foreground by the Queen. To view the larger image (60K), Click here.
The front of the office has the doorway that leads out to the private balcony on the front of the office. The trim on the top of the stairway that leads to the ground floor of the building. To view the larger image (64K), Click here.
Haven't visited the Rose Courtyard, yet? Follow these stairs down to the main floor of the offices. It will take you back to the plaza where you will find the gate to the Rose Garden.
